How might we questions (HMW?) serve as a bridge point from needs expressed by your audience to possible solutions. A good HMW question should provoke creative thinking and foster a sense of freedom.

Step-by-step guide

  1. Together, identify a topic that your team needs to consider or a problem they need to solve
  2. Create one or more questions that start with “How might we…”
  3. Review the question(s) to make sure they are focused on your audience and are actionable
  4. If you have many HMW’s, pick one to focus on, setting the others aside for now
